Minister Kasolo Mobilizes Kiboga, Kyankwazi for Museveni as President Courts Buganda Vote

  1. KYANKWANZI/KIBOGA – December 17, 2025 – National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairman for Central Region, Hon. Haruna Kasolo, has called upon voters in Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts to turn out “massively” to re-elect President Yoweri Museveni, citing a legacy of “steady leadership” and protected development gains.

Kasolo’s rallying cry came today as President Museveni, the NRM’s presidential flag bearer, intensified his campaign swing through the crucial Buganda region. The minister for Microfinance addressed a sizable gathering at the Kiboga Saza Grounds, welcoming the President ahead of his keynote speech.

“We thank President Museveni for his visionary leadership that has transformed the Buganda region economically,” Kasolo stated. He urged voters to safeguard ongoing national projects and ensure continuity by voting for the incumbent.

President Museveni’s campaign in Buganda is seen as pivotal. In the 2021 elections, the President contested that he was “robbed” of approximately 2.7 million votes by the opposition in the region. A strong performance here is considered essential for a decisive overall victory.

The day’s events began with a rally in Kyankwanzi, followed by the Kiboga stopover. This marks the second day of the President’s Buganda campaign tour, which commenced on Monday with a major rally at Kasambya Playground in Mubende District, drawing tens of thousands of supporters.

Political analysts suggest that the mobilization efforts of leaders like Hon. Kasolo, a seasoned figure in the region, could significantly boost the NRM’s fortunes in Central Uganda.

“With the grassroots network and mobilization capacity of leaders like Hon. Kasolo, President Museveni is positioned to secure Buganda with a considerable margin this time,” noted one political commentator.

President Museveni is scheduled to continue his campaign trail on Wednesday in Mityana and Kasanda districts, before proceeding to the greater Masaka sub-region on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
